Guayaquil Day Trips

We offer a variety of day tours in and around Guayaquil. Below, you will find our current offerings.

Guayaquil City Tour

Home to approximately three million people and the Galapagos Best office, Guayaquil is Ecuador's largest city. Here at Galapagos Best, we consider it the gateway to Ecuador. Its modern José Joaquín Olmedo International Airport is the only 24/7 international airport in the country, and all flights to and from the Galapagos must pass through Guayaquil. Our city is this economic capital of the country, and has a lot to offer tourists and locals alike. From the beautiful riverfront boardwalk and the colorful neighborhood of picturesque houses that dot the Santa Ana Hill, to the myriad museums, trendy shops and delicious restaurants, there is a lot to see and do in Guayaquil. We are proud to call this city our home, and we can't wait to show you why.

We offer tours of the city with a local, bilingual guide who will bring you to all the main attractions:

  • The Malecón 2000
  • The Santa Ana Hill
  • Las Peñas Neighborhood
  • Seminario, or "Iguana" Park
  • The Metropolitan Cathedral
  • City Hall
  • And much, much more

It's also possible to combine the half-day city tour with a visit to the Parque Histórico, Churute Ecological Mangrove Reserve, or a Cacao Plantation. A city tour lasts approximately 3.5 hours. Ours include a local, bilingual guide as well as private transportation. Contact us to schedule your tour.

Churute Mangrove Ecological Reserve

With over 38,000 hectares of mangroves, and over 12,000 hectares of tropical forest, the Churute Mangrove Ecological Reserve is one of the largest mangrove reserves in the country. Located just 58 km (36 miles) from downtown Guayaquil, it's easy to add a visit to this birdwatcher's paradise to your city tour. Within this reserve, there are over 300 species of birds, 27 of which are endemic to Ecuador and 11 of which are endangered species.

Join us for a boat ride down the winding saltwater canals of the Guayas Estuary. Learn about the different species of mangroves and the interesting flora and fauna you discover along the way. The adventure continues as we walk through the dry tropical forests in search of rare birds and howler monkeys. Contact us about scheduling and more information.

Cacao and Chocolate Experience

Are you a chocolate lover? If so, you shouldn't pass up the opportunity to tour a local cacao plantation and learn firsthand how this rich treat is made. From the young cacao tree to the roasting and grinding of the beans, a local cacao grower will lead you through each stage of the intriguing cacao production. You'll also get to enjoy a typical lunch made only with fresh ingredients from the plantation. And for dessert? A rich chocolate milkshake made with cacao ground up right in front of your eyes. Check out the itinerary here!

The Cacao Plantation is located fifteen minutes from the Churute Mangrove Ecological Reserve, and about one hour from Guayaquil. We always suggest combining these two excursions into a single full day trip. You can check out the itinerary for the joint excursion here
